What is Dementia

Dementia is an umbrella term - it covers A LOT of things. There are over 120 different types, causes, and forms that are under the umbrella of dementia. Symptoms are the greatest guide to the type of dementia since true diagnosis isn't until after death.  Each person progresses differently so when you've seen someone with dementia, you've seen one person.  You're not alone in the journey! It can be difficult to determine when a loved one may need more support. Memory care environments can be a great option for seniors suffering from memory-related issues who require more assistance with day to day living.

These environments are designed with purpose to respect each resident's dignity while providing programming and a safe atmosphere to call home.  When choosing a memory care community for yourself or a loved one, the better choice and solution will be there.

The Power of Music

Research suggests that listening to or singing songs can provide emotional and behavioral benefits for people with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia.
